HIV is REAL and it is now present right here within our scene. We all fuck one another. We know this. As an inclusive close knit community it is bound to happen. One of us could receive a phone call any minute from this mystery person with information that could change our lives and I for one am terrified. I know far too many people, myself included who do not have safe, or safe ENOUGH sex. 1 in TWO (that is 50 PERCENT!) of all people will contract an STI before the age of 25. I am not immune and neither are you. Starting today, I will make a FAR more conscious effort to have protected sex and get tested more often, not just during my annual exam. Unless we want to become an inclusive community of diseased punk kids, we need to wake up and wake up NOW.

“Republicans in Congress were going so far as to say an employer should be able to have a say in the health care decisions of its female employees.
“And I’m always puzzled by this. This is a party that says it prides itself on being rabidly anti-regulation. These are folks who claim to believe in freedom from government interference and meddling. But it doesn’t seem to bother them when it comes to women’s health.” —President Obama on Women’s Health (via mimivonboom)
Then started coughing my brains out a little. I don’t have to wake up until 10am today for work at 1:30pm. I try to go back to sleep, but with less than stellar results. Luckily my Emergency Room visit that left me diagnosed with strep also gave me an excellent arsenal of medication. The perfect one for this situation seemed to be my generic oxycodone. I took half a tab……..nothing. 6:30am rolls around and I’m still awake. I take the other half of the tab cause I’ll be damned if I’m just going to stay awake this early for no reason. After a while I’m feeling literally no effects of the medicine and am starting to worry for when it’s intended purpose actually rears it’s head. I finally go to sleep. I’m not sure if it was n my own or because of the oxycodone, but I’ll take it. Then I wake up at 9am. Fuck it, I’m just going to get out of bed. I start to walk around and realize that the oxycodone definitely kicked in and did it’s job, because I’m way more out of it than I normally would be on a walk from the bed, to the bathroom, to the Keurig. Now I understand why I can’t take thise before driving.
